Road surfacing
For 40 years, the company has supplied and laid many sections of the N4 and N5 in the regions of Counties Roscommon, Leitrim, and Longford. Additionally, the company holds ongoing contracts with local authorities for the annual paving of all secondary and trunk roads throughout these counties.
The company’s material, locally known as wet mix, is particularly suitable for the structuring and building of roadways. It is tailored to a specific and strategic mix, with the requisite moisture content. When laid and rolled using a full range of pavers, the mix provides an excellent structural base for roadways, especially where the foundations are no longer fit for purpose.
Surface dressing
Surface dressing is a widely used maintenance technique in Ireland. It involves the application of bitumen emulsion and unwashed high PSV aggregate chippings, applied by rolling, typically with pneumatic-tired rollers and vibratory steel drum rollers. Surface dressing typically improves skidding resistance, making roads safer, waterproofs them, and protects against frost and water damage.
Wincove Construction, in preparation for works, typically carries out design sheets to establish the motion surface, spreads surface dressing type, chip sizes, and chipping types. Wincove is CE marked for surface dressing.
The 4 types of surfacing dressing include:
- Single surface
- Pad coat plus single surface
- Racked in surface
- Double surface
Road recycling
Wincove Construction has complemented its road stabilization works with road recycling, primarily when no increase in level is desired and to maximize the use of existing road foundations. Road recycling entails milling up the existing road and then spreading and mixing it with appropriate bitumen emulsions, and/or applying a new layer of clause 804/810 wet mix paver.
Pavement recycling is a technique whereby the existing degraded pavement is modified and transformed into a homogeneous structure capable of supporting traffic requirements.
Civil Engineering & Site Works
Wincove Construction Limited has a highly experienced team of civil engineers, personnel, drivers, and operatives. The company conducts a full suite of groundworks, primarily supporting its servicing business, which includes kerbing, foundations, drainage, water attenuation, specialist soft ground work, material classification, and movement. The company has a range of specialist plant and machinery at its disposal, including dozers, excavators, and dumpers, all of which are necessary to take a project from a greenfield site to a finished product.
